Liebe Zoofreunde,

für das diesjährige, 31. internationale Zoosammlertreffen in Rostock hatten sich 51 Teilnehmer angemeldet, 47 aus acht europäischen Ländern haben am Sonnabend, dem 18. September d. J., an der Tauschbörse, Führungen und dem Abendprogramm teilgenommen. Am Sonntag nahmen etwa die Hälfte der Sammler und sonstigen Zoofreunde am Besuch des Ozeaneum in Stralsund teil. Im Anhang finde bitte das Gruppenfoto. Sicherlich im Namen Aller möchte ich mich nochmals bei der Direktion und dem Besucherservice des Zoologischen Gartens Rostock für ihre Gastfreundschaft und Hilfsbereitschaft herzlich bedanken.

Bei der Versteigerung am Sonnabend zu Gunsten des Artenschutzvereins Polar Bears International sind 751,– Euro zusammengekommen und am gleichen Abend dem Zoo überreicht worden. Dank an alle, die im Laufe des Abends mehrmals die Hand gehoben und damit zu der Spende besonders großzügig beigetragen haben. Dank der Großzügigkeit unseres Gastgebers haben wir die Zoohistorica mit einem Überschuss abschließen können; auf Vorschlag der Zooleitung habe ich im Namen aller Teilnehmer 200,– Euro auf das Spendenkonto zu Gunsten des Neubauprojekts Robbenanlagen heute überwiesen.

Leszek Solski, der bekanntlich schon zwei Sammlertreffen in Breslau organisiert hat, hat liebenswürdigerweise mit der Leitung des Zoologischen Gartens in Prag vereinbart, dass die 32. Zoohistorica nächstes Jahr, voraussichtlich wieder Mitte September, jetzt zum zweiten Mal in der Tschechischen Republik stattfinden kann. Er wird alle regelmäßigen Teilnehmer auf dem Laufenden halten.

Dear zoo enthusiasts,

Fifty-one participants signed up for this year’s 31st Zoohistorica in Rostock; 47 from eight nations actually attended the trade fair, guided tours and the evening programme on Saturday, 18 September of this year. Roughly half that number visited Stralsund’s Ozeaneum on Sunday. Attached please find the group photograph taken in front of the Zoo’s Darwineum. I’m sure I speak for all when I thank our hosts at Rostock Zoo for their generosity and cooperation.

At the evening auction on Saturday in support of Polar Bears International, we took in €751.00, passed on the same night to the Zoo. Thanks especially to all who raised their hands more than once to ensure a generous collection. Thanks to the generosity of our hosts, we ended the meeting with a surplus. At the suggestion of management, I transferred today, in the name of all participants, €200.00 to the Zoo’s donations account in support of the new construction project for pinnipeds.

Leszek Solski, who organised two collectors’ meetings in Wrocław over the years, has generously reached agreement with the management of Prague Zoo to organise next year’s Zoohistorica in the Czech Republic. It will be only the second time we meet in that country. The date has been tentatively set for mid-September 2022. Leszek promises to keep all regular participants up to date on his and Prague’s plans.
